It has been quite a long time since the last post, but there are lots of new things in the oven, cooking away, hopefully it will all be ready soon.... and not too overdone.
Heres a look at the latest ebook cover "Razing Reality" by Gary Jacobson, available on Amazon.
There are so many things I would like to have done with the cover, the unfortunate thing about ebook covers is that they are generally viewed at such a small image size you can't be too generous with detailing. But on the plus side that does allow you to create some stronger iconic imagery.
For example, Razing Reality is a science fiction novel. But rather than the stock standard spaceship hurtling out of control through space I'd rather include the main character falling through the darkness of space into some sort of white void that seems to be sucking everything into it. If you read the book it will all make sense in the end.

Nina Peligro - The Quarrel cover painting
Not sure how I feel about this one, perhaps it needs a little reworking...? I used gouache on a really thick watercolour paper and although I liked the texture I think it may have hampered my attempts at a really smooth finish so I may give thiks another go on the good-old-reliable-smooth-illustration board.

I Fight the city cover painting
Cover image for upcoming "I Fight the City" short story.
My original idea was a completely different composition but I couldn't get it to work. Its a good thing too because I'm really happy with this angle and the way it turned out. The piece has movement and sums up the warped perception of the main character.
more to come, thanks for stopping by!

Such a loooong time
Hi, Hola, Bonjour, Gutentag and Sawadee!!!
Its been a while and this blog has been neglected far too long. But a much needed break has the batteries recharged and I'll start posting new art on a regular basis. Hoping to have some new sketch cards soon too.
In the meantime here is a look at a pencil sketch for the cover of "I Fight the City"

Blown away!
Thought I might post some art from another project in the works, Crashland. Testing out some layering with texts and text box colours. I'm hand lettering the entire thing which should be quite a challenge, and I will need to neaten my style up a lot of I want it to look professional. This is just a test run...
